description
If you’re a US citizen, working on US federal policy can be particularly valuable because the US federal government is so large and has so much influence over many key problems. Potential routes here include working:
- In Congress, for example as a Congressional staffer.
- At federal agencies that work on key global challenges such as AI, bio-risk, nuclear or climate change policy. For example, the Department of Defense's Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office, the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and many others.
- In the White House's Executive Office of the President, for example at the National Security Council, the Office of Science and Technology Policy, and the Office of Management and Budget.
