The European AI Office is part of the European Union's European Commission. It aims to govern AI in Europe by supporting the development and use of trustworthy AI, while protecting against AI risks. They implement and enforce the General-Purpose AI aspects of the EU AI Act.
The AI Office has five units, including one for AI safety and one for regulation and compliance. Its tasks include supporting the EU AI Act and enforcing general-purpose AI rules, strengthening the development and use of trustworthy AI, fostering international cooperation, and cooperation with institutions, experts and stakeholders.
